Goat Hair Yarn: The demand for thread made from goat hair is growing rapidly not only in India but also abroad. Especially threads made of high quality fibers like Mohir, Kashmiri and Angora wool are quite popular in the international market. These products made of natural fiber have increased in demands in countries like Europe, America and Japan have been working in Barmer for three generations, Khinyaram’s family has been working to make thread on the spinning wheel from the goat’s hair.

In the border Barmer, three generations are working to make thread on the spinning wheel from the hair of the goat. Hard work is more and low earnings, despite this, Khinyaram’s family is busy keeping the traditional culture alive. Many types of items are prepared with thread prepared from goat hair. It is also in demand in Surat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and abroad.

Khinyaram’s family is engaged in this work in the dhani of Jatiya potters in Dhani of Lakhtali Gram Panchayat. The family is preparing 12 kg thread daily by running a spinning wheel. The price of two kg of thread is 130 to 140 rupees. 500 to 600 feet tall thread is prepared with hair weighing two kilos. About 10 kg thread is prepared throughout the day.

70-year-old Khinyaram’s family buys goat hair from nearby villages for Rs 20 kg. After this, the hair is cured with hands by applying wood in front of four cords made of cotton. Due to this, frozen hair is softened with separation. About two kilos of small hair are prepared at a time.

Traders from Surat come to buy goods in the village itself. Banshilal, who makes thread, said that it is necessary to continue the inherited work. Sometimes one has to go to sell goods. Both parents prepare goods throughout the day by running a spinning wheel. Despite the low earnings, they are busy doing the work of ancestors to keep the culture alive.

This makes many designs of carpets, zeroi, camel -splash tight, jalang sacks, square sacks, Bhakhala, Brush, Clothing, Sprinkle, Tight Strip, Morkha, Khesla, Rope for Domestic work, sacks are prepared. Due to increasing inclination of people towards these products made of natural fibers, their demand is increasing continuously in countries like Europe, America and Japan. This is providing a new opportunity to the rural cattle rearers and goat rearing industry, so that they can improve their livelihood.
