Mohini, a member of Saraswati Public Welfare and Employment Institute, told Local18 that this institution started in the year 2006. Initially we used to teach women a variety of skills and from 2014 we started making bamboo handicrafts and selling them in exhibitions.

He told that earlier we started making Ringal’s baskets, utensils etc., and now we are working on elephant bamboo. Women of our organization are making different bamboo designed lamps, lights, plants, pen holders, cup holders and many other utensils.

If you are fond of handicrafts, then here you will find many items. He also informed that Uttarakhand Bamboo and Structure Development Council is also making special efforts to promote his work.

Due to this, new employment opportunities are being created and traditional craftsmanship is also getting a new identity. Mohini says that he cleanses the bamboo growing in Uttarakhand, then molds it in different designs and makes varnish and paintings etc.

It also says that she has such planters who are very special. These planters are made by cutting elephant bamboo root. Tourists take their products to abroad.

The objective of the institution is not only limited to trade, but also to provide employment to more and more people and promote the traditional craftsmanship of Uttarakhand. If you are also interested in these bamboo products or want more information, you can contact 9897406625.
